The climate of Belize City

What is the capital of Belize? Belize City is located at the mouth of the Belize River on the Caribbean coast. The town expanded when English loggers settled here in the 17th century. The former small Maya village grew into an important port for the export of tropical hardwoods. Because the city is so close to the sea, it has already been seriously damaged and destroyed by a hurricane twice. The last time the city was almost completely flattened and almost everything had to be rebuilt.

Belize City has a tropical monsoon climate. This climate is characterized by long periods of rain. The rainy season runs from June to December, with the most rain in September, October and November.
