What is the capital of Denmark? Copenhagen (also written as Copenhagen) is the capital of Denmark and is located in the east of the country, on the Sound. Copenhagen is the largest city in the country and the place most popular with tourists. Several tourist attractions can be found in the city, such as the little mermaid and the Tivoli amusement park. In the city is also the free city Christiania, which declared its independence in 1970. As a result, different rules apply in this district and motorized traffic is prohibited.

Denmark has a cool maritime climate (type Cfb according to the Köppen system), with precipitation in all seasons. The winters are on the cool side and the summers quite moderate, although the mercury easily rises to values well above twenty degrees in July and August.
