What is the capital of Vietnam? The city of Hanoi (Hà Nội) located in the north of Vietnam is the capital of the country. Hanoi is located on the right bank of the Red River. With more than seven million inhabitants, Hanoi is the second largest city in Vietnam, the largest city is Ho Chi Minh City (more than nine million inhabitants). The city is more than a thousand years old and one of the most important cultural centers of Vietnam.
