The climate of Tirana
What is the capital of Albania? Tirana is the capital and largest city of Albania. With over half a million inhabitants, the Tirana agglomeration is the economic and political center of the country. Impressive about this former Eastern Bloc city is the immense Skanderbeg Square, which was set up in honor of the national hero Gjergj Kastrioti. The city has grown enormously since the fall of the Iron Curtain. The built-up area has almost quadrupled since 1990 and the population has experienced an almost comparable growth. Tirana in summer
The months of July and August are quite popular to visit Tirana. Europeans who then celebrate their summer holidays can combine a visit to the capital with a tour through Albania or with a beach holiday in Durrës. With temperatures averaging 28 to 32 degrees in the afternoon, it is on the warm side for a city trip. If you want to see and do a lot in one day, that can be a limiting factor. However, it can still get a lot hotter. The mercury can rise to values between 35 and 40 degrees.
