The climate of Vaduz

What is the capital of Liechtenstein? Vaduz is the capital of the Principality of Liechtenstein. This microstate is centrally located in the Alps. Vaduz dates back to the Middle Ages. In documents from 1322 a castle is mentioned. This was destroyed by the Swiss in 1499, just like the rest of the then town. Due to its status as a tax haven, more wealthy and business people than real tourists come to Vaduz. The number of attractions is limited. You can visit the Postal Museum or the National Museum. Vaduz officially has a temperate maritime climate (Cfb climate). This is quite remarkable, considering that there is no sea to be found near Vaduz. Based on the average climate statistics, you nevertheless arrive at this maritime climate type. This is mainly because the Köppen-Geiger climate system is based on average figures rather than the extreme values.

Vaduz is about 455 meters above sea level, which brings the average temperatures down slightly due to the altitude.
