Koh Phangan, Thailand Weather and Climate
General and geography
Koh Phangan (often also written Ko Pha-ngan or Ko Pha Ngan) is an island in the Gulf of Thailand that is particularly popular with individual travelers. Koh Phangan has become world famous for its monthly Full Moon Party on the long sandy beach in southern Haad Rin.
Haad Rin is to a certain extent the party capital of the island with numerous accommodations, shops and restaurants. The place exudes little
classic Thai charm, but is particularly popular with backpackers and party-goers. Koh Phangan is around 55 kilometers from the mainland and does not have its own airport. The journey can only be made by boat. Most visitors land at the airport in Koh Samui or Surat Thani.
For those looking for peace and quiet and families, more and more hotels have settled along the beautiful beaches in recent years. Our favorites include Baan Tai Beach, Leela Beach, Srithanu Beach and the neighboring beaches Hat Thong Nai Pan Noi and Hat Thong Nai Pan Yai in the northeast of Koh Phangan.
