According to wholevehicles, Algeria is located in the northern part of Africa, bordered by Tunisia to the northeast, Libya to the east, Niger to the southeast, Mali and Mauritania to the south and Morocco and Western Sahara to the west. It is one of the largest countries on the continent with a total area of 2.381 million square kilometers. Algeria’s terrain is mainly composed of high plateaus and desert plains, with some mountains in the north. The Tell Atlas mountain range stretches from Tunisia along Algeria’s eastern border, while across its northern coast lies a narrow strip of Mediterranean Sea coastline. The country’s highest point is Mount Tahat in Ahaggar Mountains at 2,918 meters above sea level. The vast majority of Algeria consists of desert or semi-desert terrain; however there are some fertile regions along its Mediterranean coast as well as in its northern mountainous regions. The Sahara Desert covers most of southern Algeria and includes several oases where nomadic tribes live and grow date palms for their livelihoods. In addition to its desert regions, Algeria has two major natural lakes: Lake Fetzara near Tamanrasset in southern Algeria and Chott Melrhir which straddles both sides of the Algerian-Tunisian border near Medea province. Algeria also has several rivers including Wadi Mzab which runs through Ghardaia province; Wadi Soummam which runs through Bejaia province; Oued Seybouse which flows into Algiers province; Oued Rhumel which flows into Annaba province; Oued El Kebir which flows into Oran province; and Oued Chelif which runs through Chlef province.
