These rivers form a network of canals and streams that are used for transportation and irrigation purposes. The country also contains several large lakes such as Kaptai Lake, Sangu Lake and Madhupur Lake. Bangladesh has a tropical monsoon climate with hot summers and mild winters. Most of the country experiences heavy rains during the monsoon season from May to October. Bangladesh has a wide range of natural resources including coal, natural gas, limestone, timber and fish.
