According to wholevehicles, Bhutan is a landlocked country located in the Eastern Himalayas, bordered by India to the south and Tibet to the north. Bhutan is roughly divided into three geographic regions: the northern Himalayan region, the central region, and the southern foothills. The northern Himalayan region consists of high mountain peaks with an elevation of over 4,000 meters above sea level. These mountains are covered by snow all year round and are home to many glaciers, high-altitude lakes, and numerous rivers. The central region is composed of valleys and rolling hills with an elevation ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 meters above sea level. This area has a temperate climate and is known for its lush forests and diverse flora and fauna. The southern foothills range in altitude from 600 to 1,000 meters above sea level. This area has a subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. It is characterized by tropical forests that are home to many species of birds and animals including tigers, leopards, rhinoceros, elephants, wild buffalo, red pandas, sloth bears and much more. In addition to its varied geography Bhutan also has a unique culture that includes traditional dance forms such as Zhabdrung Kuchoe which celebrates the establishment of Bhutan’s monarchy in 1616 AD as well as festivals that celebrate special occasions such as Losar (New Year) or Tshechu (masked dance). Bhutan also boasts numerous architectural wonders including monasteries perched atop mountains or tucked away in remote valleys as well as ancient fortresses like Trongsa Dzong which dates back to 1648 AD.
