The climate in Estonia can be classified as temperate continental with cold winters and mild summers. Average temperatures range from -2°C to 16°C during winter months while summer months average between 16°C-20°C. Rainfall varies across regions but generally ranges between 500-700mm per year with most rain falling during summer months. Snowfall occurs mainly during winter months but can also occur during autumn or spring months depending on location within Estonia. The biodiversity in Estonia consists mostly of deciduous forest habitats including pine forests, spruce forests and birch forests as well as coastal areas along its northern coastline which are home to various species of migratory birds such as geese and swans as well as other wildlife like elk, foxes and deer among others . There are also several protected areas throughout Estonia including Lahemaa National Park which was established in 1971 for nature conservation purposes; it covers an area of 700 square kilometers making it one of Europe’s largest national parks.
