According to wholevehicles, Fiji is a nation of 333 islands in the South Pacific Ocean, located about 1,300 miles northeast of New Zealand’s North Island. The two main islands are Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, which make up 87 percent of the total land area. Viti Levu is home to the capital city of Suva and is the most populous island in Fiji. It is home to lush tropical rainforests, rugged mountain ranges, and stunning beaches with crystal-clear waters. The terrain on Vanua Levu is more rugged and hilly than that on Viti Levu. There are some high mountain peaks here, including Mount Tomanivi at 4,344 feet above sea level. Between Viti Levu and Vanua Levu lies a large expanse of coral reefs which form the Lau Group Islands. These islands offer spectacular diving spots and some of the best beaches in Fiji. The Mamanuca Islands are another group consisting of 20 small islands just off the western coast of Viti Levu with white sand beaches, turquoise waters, and coral reefs teeming with marine life. In addition to its stunning geography, Fiji also has extensive mangrove forests along its coasts that provide shelter for many species of fish and birds as well as serve as important nurseries for juvenile fish species.
