According to wholevehicles, Greece is a country located in the southeastern part of Europe, bordered by Albania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Turkey. It has an area of 131,957 square kilometers and a population of over 10 million people. The mainland of Greece is composed of several mountain ranges that are separated by deep valleys and plains. The highest peak in Greece is Mount Olympus at 2,918 meters above sea level. Greece also has many islands spread throughout the Aegean and Ionian Seas. The most well-known islands are Crete, the largest Greek island, Lesbos, Rhodes and Corfu. Greece’s climate tends to be temperate with mild winters and hot summers throughout much of the country. In the north parts of Greece there is a mountain climate with colder temperatures than in other areas due to the higher elevation. Generally speaking there is not much rainfall throughout most parts of Greece with some areas experiencing drought conditions during certain times of year. The terrain in Greece varies greatly from region to region with mountains dominating much of the mainland while coastal areas tend to be flatter with sandy beaches. There are many rivers that run through the country including the Achelous River which is one of Europe’s longest rivers at 280 km long and emptying into the Ionian Sea near Patras on its western side. Additionally there are many lakes scattered throughout Greece including Lake Ioannina which is located in northwestern Greece near Albania’s border and Lake Trichonida which sits near Larissa on its eastern side.
