According to wholevehicles, Haiti is a small Caribbean nation located on the western part of Hispaniola, the second largest island in the Greater Antilles. It shares its border with the Dominican Republic and has an area of 27,750 sq km. Haiti is divided into nine departments, each with its own capital city. The northern coast is mostly mountainous, while the rest of the country is relatively flat. The highest point in Haiti is Pic la Selle at 2,680 m above sea level. Its coastline stretches for 1,771 km and features a number of bays and coves along with coral reefs and sandy beaches. The climate in Haiti is tropical but varies depending on elevation and other factors such as wind direction and ocean currents. The average temperature ranges from 22°C to 30°C throughout the year with cooler temperatures in higher elevations. Rainfall is quite heavy during the wet season which runs from May to November while there are warmer temperatures during dry season which lasts from December to April. Hurricanes are a common occurrence between June and November as well due to its location in the Caribbean Sea. Haiti’s terrain consists of mountains, hills, valleys, plateaus and plains making up around 70% of its landmass while forests make up around 60%. Deforestation has been an issue for years due to over-logging which has resulted in soil erosion and flooding along some of its rivers such as La Visite River which runs through Port-au-Prince.
