According to wholevehicles, Hungary is a landlocked country in Central Europe. It is bordered by Slovakia to the north, Ukraine and Romania to the east, Serbia and Croatia to the south, and Austria to the west. It has an area of 93,030 square kilometers (35,920 sq mi). The terrain is mostly flat with some rolling plains and low mountains in the north. The landscape of Hungary is divided into two distinct regions: the Great Plain or Alföld in the east and the Transdanubian Mountains in the west. The Great Plain or Alföld covers more than half of Hungary’s total area and consists of flat lands interspersed with rivers, streams, lakes, marshes, and swamps. The region is also home to a variety of wildlife including red deer, wild boar, foxes, golden jackals and wolves. The Danube River forms most of Hungary’s northern border with Slovakia before flowing southwards through Hungary towards Serbia. Other major rivers include Tisza River which flows into Romania in the east and Drava River which forms part of its southern border with Croatia. In terms of climate there are four distinct seasons in Hungary; spring (March-May), summer (June-August), autumn (September-November) and winter (December-February). Summers are generally hot with temperatures reaching up to 35°C or more while winters can be cold but usually remain milder than other parts of Europe due to its location within Central Europe. Rainfall typically occurs throughout all four seasons but tends to be heaviest during springtime when thunderstorms are common. Snowfall can occur between December – February but does not usually last for long periods at a time due to its low elevation relative to other parts of Europe.
