According to wholevehicles, Iraq is a Middle Eastern country located in Western Asia, bordered by Turkey to the north, Iran to the east, Kuwait to the southeast, Saudi Arabia to the south, Jordan to the southwest and Syria to the west. It has a total area of 437,072 square kilometers and is divided into 18 governorates. The northern region of Iraq is mountainous and consists mainly of Kurdish-inhabited areas. The northernmost point of Iraq is Mount Ala Dagh which reaches an elevation of 3,611 meters. The central region of Iraq has a mostly flat terrain with some rolling hills. This area is known as Mesopotamia which means “the land between two rivers” in Greek. The two rivers referred to are the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers which are fed by several tributaries including the Great Zab River and Little Zab River. The southern region of Iraq consists mostly of desert plains with some oases scattered throughout it. This area includes marshlands near the border with Iran. In addition to its rich cultural heritage, Iraq also has significant oil reserves located mainly in Kirkuk Province in addition to other regions such as Basra Province and Mosul Province.
