According to wholevehicles, Ivory Coast is located in West Africa, and it borders the countries of Liberia, Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Ghana. It has a total area of 322,463 square kilometers. The country has a very diverse geography with many different types of terrain. The northern region consists mainly of savanna and dry grasslands that are sometimes interspersed with small patches of forest. Further south is the tropical rainforest which covers most of the central part of the country. This rainforest is home to many species of wildlife including monkeys, leopards, elephants and gorillas. In addition to forests there are also several mountainous regions in Ivory Coast such as Mont Nimba which rises to 1,752 meters above sea level. The coastline along the Gulf of Guinea offers beautiful beaches as well as some great fishing opportunities due to its vibrant marine life. Inland there are several large rivers such as the Bandama River which flows through the capital city Abidjan and eventually empties into the Atlantic Ocean near Assinie-Mafia Island. Ivory Coast also has a few large lakes such as Lake Kossou which is located in western Ivory Coast near Man and Lake Buyo in southern Ivory Coast near San Pedro. These lakes offer great opportunities for recreational activities such as fishing or boating trips on their calm waters. See bridgat for weather information in Ivory Coast.
