According to wholevehicles, Liberia is situated on the western coast of Africa. It is bordered by the Republic of Guinea to the north and northeast, the Ivory Coast to the east and southeast, and the Atlantic Ocean to the south and west. The country has an area of 111,369 square kilometers (43,000 sq mi). The terrain is mostly flat with a few hills in some areas. The climate is tropical with two distinct seasons: wet and dry. The wet season runs from May to October while the dry season runs from November to April. The country is divided into fifteen counties with Montserrado being the most populous county. Monrovia, Liberia’s capital, is located within Montserrado county. Other major cities include Gbarnga, Harper, Voinjama, Zwedru and Greenville. Liberia has abundant natural resources such as gold, diamonds, iron ore and timber which account for almost half of Liberia’s exports. Liberia also has a diverse wildlife population including chimpanzees, elephants and leopards among other species that can be found in its forests. There are also many rivers in Liberia such as St Paul River which flows through Monrovia; Cestos River which separates parts of Nimba County; Mano River which separates parts of Lofa County; St John River which flows into Grand Bassa County; Lofa River which flows through Lofa County; Cavalla River which forms part of Liberia’s eastern border with Ivory Coast; Saint Paul river that empties into Mesurado Bay near Monrovia; Farmington river that empties into Atlantic Ocean near Harper City; Junk river that empties into Atlantic Ocean near Greenville City etc. The coastal areas have sandy beaches while inland areas have tropical rainforests that are home to various species of plants and animals including some endangered species like pygmy hippopotamus and chimpanzee among others. There are also several national parks in Liberia such as Sapo National Park which protects endangered species like chimpanzees and rare birds like African Grey Parrots among others.
