According to wholevehicles, Macedonia is a small country located in the Balkan region of Europe. It is bordered by Greece to the south, Bulgaria to the east, and Albania to the west. The terrain of Macedonia is mostly mountainous and hilly, with some plains in the eastern part of the country. The highest peak is Mount Korab at 2,764 meters (9,068 ft). The capital city of Skopje lies in the northern part of Macedonia and is located on both banks of the Vardar River. Other major cities include Bitola, Kumanovo, Stip, Prilep and Ohrid. The climate in Macedonia is continental with hot summers and cold winters. In summer temperatures can reach up to 40°C (104°F) while in winter temperatures can drop down to -20°C (-4°F). The country has abundant natural resources including coal, lignite, lead and zinc ore deposits as well as chromium and manganese reserves. In addition to these natural resources there are also large deposits of oil shale which are used for energy production. Macedonia has a rich cultural heritage with many ancient monuments scattered throughout its cities. Some notable attractions include Ohrid Lake which was declared a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site due to its unique flora and fauna; Bitola’s Old Bazaar which dates back from Ottoman times; Stobi archaeological site; Kale Fortress in Skopje; as well as several monasteries such as St Naum Monastery near Ohrid Lake or St John Bigorski Monastery near Debar. Macedonia also boasts some beautiful mountain ranges such as Shar Planina Mountain Range which separates it from Kosovo or Baba Mountain Range where Mount Korab stands tall at 2,764 meters (9,068 ft).
