According to wholevehicles, Philippines is an archipelago nation located in Southeast Asia, east of Vietnam and north of Indonesia. It is comprised of 7,641 islands with a total land area of 300,000 square kilometers. The country’s coastline stretches 36,289 kilometers, making it one of the countries with the longest coastlines in the world. The country has three major island groups: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Luzon is the largest island group and houses the capital city Manila. It is home to many mountains including Mount Apo, which is the highest peak in the Philippines at 2,954 meters above sea level. Visayas consists of several smaller islands that are popular tourist destinations due to its stunning beaches and coral reefs. Mindanao occupies two-thirds of the Philippine archipelago’s land area and is home to a large number of ethnic minorities such as Muslims and Lumads. The Philippines has a tropical climate that ranges from dry season (December to April) to wet season (May to November). In general, temperatures range from 23°C – 32°C throughout most parts of the country. The country also experiences typhoons during certain parts of the year caused by its location near oceans and seas such as South China Sea, Sulu Sea and Celebes Sea. These typhoons can cause significant destruction due to strong winds and heavy rains which can cause flooding in low lying areas. Despite this risk however, Filipinos continue to live in coastal areas due to employment opportunities provided by fishing or other maritime activities. Overall, the geography of Philippines provides it with diverse landscapes ranging from lush rainforests in Mindanao to white sand beaches in Visayas that make it a popular destination for tourists as well as locals alike.
