According to wholevehicles, Russia is the largest country in the world by landmass, covering an area of 17,098,242 square kilometers. It has a wide variety of geographical features including mountains, rivers, and plains. The Ural Mountains form a natural boundary between Europe and Asia. To the east of the Urals is Siberia, a vast region of steppes, swamps and tundra stretching into the Arctic Ocean. The Caucasus Mountains form another natural boundary between Europe and Asia with some of its peaks reaching over 5,000 meters in height. In the east lie the vast Russian plains that stretch from the Urals to the Pacific Ocean. This area is mostly flat with some low hills and small mountain ranges scattered throughout it. The Volga River is Russia’s longest river at 3690km long and flows through much of European Russia before emptying into the Caspian Sea. To the north are several large lakes such as Lake Ladoga and Lake Onega which are connected by canals to Moscow and St Petersburg respectively. There are many other smaller rivers that cross through this region such as Ob River which flows from Siberia to its delta on the Arctic Ocean. Along with these two major rivers there are numerous other smaller rivers that flow across Russia’s landscape providing water for agriculture in many areas.
