The climate of Slovenia is a mix between continental and Mediterranean climates. In general, temperatures are mild with cold winters lasting from December to March and warm summers from June to August. Rainfall varies throughout the year but generally increases during summer months due to monsoon winds from Africa blowing over from Italy. Snowfall can be expected in winter months especially in higher altitudes where skiing is popular among locals as well as international visitors. Slovenia has many natural wonders including its many forests that are home to various species of flora and fauna including brown bears, wolves, lynxes, wild cats, wild boar as well as chamois and ibexes among others. There are also numerous parks such as Triglav National Park where you can experience nature up close while also enjoying activities like hiking or camping out under a starry sky. Slovenia also boasts some stunning lakes such as Lake Bled or Lake Bohinj which offer visitors an opportunity for swimming or simply relaxing while taking in their beauty on a sunny day.
