According to wholevehicles, South Korea is a small, mountainous peninsula located in East Asia. It is surrounded by the East Sea and the Yellow Sea and borders China to the west and North Korea to the north. The country has a total area of 99,538 square kilometers, making it slightly larger than Portugal. South Korea is divided into three major geographic regions – the eastern region of Gangwon-do; the southwestern region of Jeolla-do; and the northwestern region of Gyeongsang-do. The eastern region is known for its high mountain ranges, deep valleys, and abundant forests. This region includes Seoraksan National Park, which is home to some of South Korea’s most beautiful landscapes. The southwestern region is made up mostly of lowlands and plains with several large rivers running through it. This region includes famous tourist spots such as Jeju Island and Boseong Tea Fields. The northwestern region includes several large cities such as Busan, Ulsan, and Daegu as well as many smaller cities scattered throughout its coastal plains. This area also contains some of South Korea’s most important cultural sites such as Gyeongju Historic Areas and Haeinsa Temple Complex. South Korea has a temperate climate with four distinct seasons – spring (March–May), summer (June–August), autumn (September–November), and winter (December–February). The summers are usually hot and humid while winters tend to be cold with occasional snowfall in some areas. The country experiences an annual monsoon season from June to September that brings heavy rains across much of South Korea’s landscape. See paulfootwear for weather information in South Korea.
