According to wholevehicles, South Sudan is located in the northeastern part of Africa and is bordered by Ethiopia to the east, Kenya to the southeast, Uganda to the south, Democratic Republic of Congo to the southwest, Central African Republic to the west, and Sudan to the north. It covers an area of 619,745 square kilometers (239,285 sq mi). The terrain of South Sudan is predominantly flat plains with some hills and mountains in its western regions. Its highest point is Kinyeti at 3187 m (10,456 ft) above sea level. South Sudan has several rivers including White Nile and its tributaries which flow from north to south. The largest lake in South Sudan is Lake No which covers an area of about 706 km2 (273 sq mi). This lake is fed by numerous rivers including Bahr el Ghazal River and Sobat River. Other major rivers include Pibor River and Wau River which flow into White Nile. The climate of South Sudan varies from tropical in the extreme south to desert in its northern regions. The western areas are generally dry while eastern areas experience more rainfall due to their proximity to Lake Victoria. Temperatures vary throughout the country with hot temperatures during summer months reaching up to 40°C (104°F) while winter temperatures can drop below 0°C (32°F). The rainy season typically runs from May through October with heavy rains during this period which can cause flooding in some areas. South Sudan’s wildlife includes a variety of species such as elephants, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, antelopes, buffaloes and hippopotamuses among others. There are also numerous bird species such as vultures, flamingos and pelicans that inhabit this region.
