According to wholevehicles, Spain is a country located in the south-western part of Europe, on the Iberian Peninsula. It is bordered to the north by France and Andorra, to the east by the Mediterranean Sea, to the south by Gibraltar and Morocco, and to the west by Portugal. The terrain of Spain is quite varied and includes mountains, plains, plateaus, and coastal areas. In terms of climate, Spain has a rather mild weather with temperatures ranging from 45°F (7°C) in winter to 90°F (32°C) in summer. The major mountain ranges in Spain include the Cantabrian Mountains in the north-west corner which run parallel to the Bay of Biscay, as well as Sierra de Gredos in central-western region. The Sierra Nevada range is located in southernmost part of Spain and includes its highest peak – Mulhacén – at an elevation of 3479 m (11,414 ft). Other mountain ranges found throughout Spain include Sistema Central near Madrid, Picos de Europa near Asturias, Moncayo near Zaragoza and Montes de Toledo near Ciudad Real. In addition to its impressive mountain ranges there are also many plains throughout Spain that are typically used for agricultural purposes. The largest plain is La Mancha which covers much of central-south region including parts of Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha provinces. Other major plains include Ebro Valley between Cataluña and Aragon provinces as well as Campiña Sur around Seville province. Spain’s coastline stretches over 3000 km (1864 mi) along both Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea which means that it offers many different types of beaches ranging from rocky coves to sandy bays. Some popular beach destinations include Costa del Sol on Mediterranean Sea where tourists can find cities such as Marbella or Torremolinos; Costa Brava which runs along Catalonia’s northeastern coast; Costa Blanca located on Valencia’s eastern coast; as well as Canary Islands off Africa’s northwestern coast which are known for their volcanic landscapes.
