According to wholevehicles, Sri Lanka is a tropical island nation located off the southeastern coast of India in the Indian Ocean. The country is roughly divided into two distinct regions: the dry zone, which comprises the majority of the landmass, and the wet zone, which consists of an area along the southwest coast and around Colombo. The dry zone is characterized by its flat terrain and vast tracts of open grasslands, thorny scrub forests, and rocky outcrops. This region is home to some of Sri Lanka’s most popular tourist attractions such as Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Dambulla Cave Temple. The wet zone is a region of lush vegetation with abundant rainfall from seasonal monsoons. This area is known for its tea plantations, rubber plantations, coconut groves, spice gardens, and mangrove swamps that are home to an array of wildlife such as crocodiles and migratory birds. In addition to its natural beauty, this region also contains some important historical sites such as Anuradhapura. Sri Lanka has a total coastline length of 1,340 km (832 mi) with numerous beaches along its shores that offer visitors stunning views and excellent opportunities for surfing, swimming or just relaxing in the sun. The country has two major rivers: Mahaweli Ganga (the longest river on the island) and Kelani Ganga which flow through several national parks including Wilpattu National Park in the north-west part of Sri Lanka where visitors can observe elephants in their natural habitat. Additionally, Sri Lanka has over 50 reservoirs that provide water for agriculture as well as fishing activities for locals. See bridgat for weather information in Sri Lanka.
