According to wholevehicles, Sudan is located in the northeast corner of Africa and is bordered by Egypt to the north, Libya to the northwest, Chad to the west, Central African Republic to the southwest, South Sudan to the south, Ethiopia to the southeast and Eritrea to the east. The country is divided into two distinct regions: a desert region in northern Sudan and a more tropical region in southern Sudan. The northern desert region is largely made up of sand dunes and rocky plains while some parts of this area have been cultivated for farming. This part of Sudan also contains some mountains and hills, including Jebel Marra which rises up to 3,042 meters above sea level. The majority of Sudan’s population lives in this region.┬áThe southern part of Sudan is more tropical with rainforests covering much of the area. This area also has some low-lying areas which are prone to flooding during periods of heavy rainfall. There are several rivers running through this region including White Nile which flows from Lake Victoria in Uganda through Khartoum before emptying into Egypt’s Mediterranean Sea. This river has been an important source for irrigation and transportation for centuries. Other rivers include Blue Nile, Atbara River and Sobat River which all originate from Ethiopia before flowing into northern Sudan. See bridgat for weather information in Sudan.
