According to wholevehicles, Tanzania is located in East Africa and is the 31st largest country in the world. It is bordered by Kenya and Uganda to the north, Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west, Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique to the south, and by Indian Ocean to its east. Tanzania is divided into 26 regions that are further divided into 129 districts. It has a total area of 947 300 square kilometers (364 900 sq mi). The terrain consists of a variety of topography including highlands in the north-central part of the country; an upland plateau in southern Tanzania; coastal plains along the Indian Ocean; and numerous lakes scattered throughout. The highest point in Tanzania is Mount Kilimanjaro at 5 895 meters (19 341 ft) above sea level. Tanzania has two major rivers: Rufiji River which flows through central Tanzania and Pangani River which flows through northern Tanzania. The climate of Tanzania varies depending on region but generally falls under either tropical or temperate categories. In general, temperatures are hot throughout most of the year with an average temperature range from 15°C (59°F) during winter months to 30°C (86°F) during summer months. Rainfall also varies significantly with some areas receiving as much as 2000 mm per year while other areas receive as little as 500 mm per year. The rainy season typically lasts from October to May while dry season lasts from June to September. Tanzania has an abundance of wildlife due to its varied geography and climates with many species living within game reserves such as Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area which are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Additionally, Lake Tanganyika is home to many unique species such as cichlid fish which can be found nowhere else on earth making it one of Africa’s most biodiverse ecosystems.
