The southern region is mainly composed of tropical rainforests with abundant wildlife. Along its coastline are many beautiful white sand beaches and crystal clear waters that make it a popular destination for tourists. The climate in Thailand can be divided into three seasons: hot season (March-May), rainy season (June-October), and cool season (November-February). Temperatures during the hot season can reach up to 37°C (98°F). During this time, there are frequent thunderstorms that bring heavy rains throughout the country. During the rainy season, temperatures are cooler but also accompanied by heavy rains and occasional flooding in some areas. Thailand also has many rivers that flow from mountains to its coastlines including Chao Phraya River which flows through Bangkok before emptying into the Gulf of Thailand. In addition to rivers there are also numerous large lakes throughout Thailand such as Khao Laem Lake which is located in Kanchanaburi Province near Myanmar border. There are also several islands off the coast such as Koh Samui and Koh Chang that attract tourists due to their beautiful beaches and diverse wildlife.
