According to wholevehicles, Turkey is a Eurasian country located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. It is bordered by eight countries – Greece and Bulgaria to the northwest, Georgia to the northeast, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran to the east, Iraq and Syria to the southeast. The country has an area of 783,562 square kilometers and is home to over 81 million people. The landscape of Turkey is diverse with high mountains such as Mount Ararat in Eastern Anatolia, which reaches 5165 meters in height. The Pontic Mountains stretch along the Black Sea coast from Sinop province in northern Anatolia to Rize province in eastern Anatolia. The Taurus mountains run parallel along the Mediterranean coast from Antalya province all the way up to Kars province near Georgia. The central plateau of Turkey lies between these two mountain ranges, with its highest peak being Mount Erciyes at 3,917 meters. The country has two major rivers – the Kızılırmak River and the Euphrates River – which both flow through Anatolia before entering into other countries. Other major rivers include Aras River in Eastern Turkey which flows into Azerbaijan; Sakarya River which flows through northwestern Anatolia; Murat River which flows through central Anatolia; Gediz River which flows through western Anatolia; Sakarya River which flows through northwestern Anatolia; Seyhan River which flows into southern Mediterranean Sea near Adana province; Büyük Menderes river near Izmir Province on Aegean coast; and finally Filyos river near Zonguldak Province on Black Sea coast. Turkey also has numerous lakes that are found throughout its territory including Lake Van in eastern Turkey (the largest lake), Lake Tuz (the second largest lake) found in Central Anatolian Plateau region, Beysehir Lake located west of Konya city, Egirdir Lake located south of Isparta city and many others such as Aksehir Lake or Burdur Lake that can be found scattered around different parts of Turkey. Turkey also boasts a coastline stretching over 8333 kilometers along four seas: Black Sea to its north, Marmara Sea to its northwest connecting it with Aegean Sea further westward while Mediterranean sea lies southward along western coastlines. Finally there is small strip of coastline that borders Iraq and Syria on its southeastern corner known as Gulf Of İskenderun or Iskenderun Bay where one can find many beautiful beaches such as Yumurtalik beach or Alanya beach that attract thousands of tourists every year from all around world.
