According to wholevehicles, Uganda is a landlocked country located in East Africa, bordered by Kenya, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda and Tanzania. It is situated on a plateau at an altitude of 1,100 meters (3,600 ft) above sea level. The country has a total area of 241,038 square kilometers (92,874 sq mi), making it the 79th largest country in the world. Uganda’s terrain can be divided into three main geographical regions: The Eastern Region lies at an elevation of 1,100 to 1,600 meters (3,600 to 5,200 ft) and is characterized by hills and mountains. This region includes Mount Elgon (4,321 meters or 14,178 ft), Mount Moroto (3118 meters or 10236 ft), and Mount Kadam (2139 meters or 7019 ft). It also contains two large lakes – Lake Kyoga and Lake Albert – as well as several smaller ones. To the west of this region lies the Central Region which comprises of rolling hills with some plains in between. This region has an elevation ranging from 700-1 100 meters (2 300-3 600 feet). The Western Region is primarily composed of savanna grasslands with some scattered hills and mountains. This region has an elevation ranging from 700-900 meters (2 300-2 900 feet). The lowest point in Uganda is at Lake Albert with an elevation of 621 meters (2037 feet). Uganda also contains many rivers such as River Nile which flows from Lake Victoria to Sudan; River Kafu which flows through central Uganda; River Mpanga which flows through western Uganda; and River Katonga which originates from Lake George in western Uganda. In addition to these rivers there are numerous swamps and marshes located throughout the country including Mabamba Swamp near Kampala city where you can find various species of birds including Shoebill Stork.
