According to wholevehicles, Vietnam is located in southeastern Asia, and shares its borders with China, Laos, and Cambodia. The country has a total land area of 331,210 square kilometers, making it the 65th largest nation in the world. Vietnam has a coastline stretching 2,140 kilometers along the South China Sea. Vietnam has a varied topography with hills, mountains and plains covering much of the country. The northern part of Vietnam is dominated by the Red River Delta which is composed of low-lying alluvial plains and river valleys. This region includes some of Vietnam’s most fertile lands where rice paddies are prevalent. To the west of the Red River Delta are mountains that form part of Indochina’s mountain ranges including Fansipan which is 3143 meters high and considered to be Indochina’s highest peak. Further south there are coastal plains as well as numerous islands off the coast including Phu Quoc Island which is popular with tourists. The central part of Vietnam consists mainly of highlands that are home to various ethnic minority groups such as Hmong and Yao people who have traditionally lived in remote mountain villages. Much of this region has been deforested due to logging activities over the years leaving it vulnerable to soil erosion and flooding during monsoon season. In southern Vietnam there is a wide variety of landscapes from dense jungles to coastal plains that are home to bustling cities such as Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). This region also includes mangrove forests as well as numerous islands off its coast including Con Dao Islands which is a popular destination for scuba divers due to its pristine coral reefs and abundant marine life.
