According to wholevehicles, Zambia is a landlocked country located in Southern Africa, bordered by the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the north, Tanzania to the northeast, Malawi to the east, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Namibia to the south, and Angola to the west. The country is divided into ten provinces which are further divided into 72 districts. The terrain of Zambia is mostly high plateau with some hills and mountains. The highest point in Zambia is Mafinga Central at 2419 meters. The main river in Zambia is the Zambezi River which flows through western Zambia from Angola and forms part of its border with Namibia. Other major rivers include Kafue River, Luangwa River and Luapula River. Lake Tanganyika lies on its border with Tanzania while Lake Kariba lies on its border with Zimbabwe. The climate of Zambia varies depending on altitude but generally has three distinct seasons; a hot wet season from November to April; a cool dry season from May to August; and a warm dry season from September to October. The average annual temperature ranges between 18°C and 25°C throughout most of the country while higher elevations experience cooler temperatures. Rainfall averages between 500mm-800mm annually but can be as low as 300mm in some parts of western Zambia or as high as 1400mm in some parts of eastern Zambia. Zambia’s landscape also features numerous national parks such as South Luangwa National Park which hosts one of Africa’s greatest concentrations of wildlife including elephants, lions and leopards; Lower Zambezi National Park which contains hippos and crocodiles along with one of Africa’s most pristine wilderness areas; North Luangwa National Park which offers spectacular views along with antelopes such as eland, roan antelope and reedbuck; Kafue National Park featuring an abundance of wildlife including lions, cheetahs and leopards; Liuwa Plain National Park known for its large number of wildebeest migration each year; Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park located near Victoria Falls offering stunning views over gorges carved by the Zambezi River; Blue Lagoon National Park offering opportunities for canoeing or fishing among other activities; Sioma Ngwezi National Park considered one of Africa’s last true wilderness areas containing a variety of wildlife such as elephants, buffalo and hippos among others; Kasanka National Park home to more than 400 species of birds including rare species like Pel’s Fishing Owl ; Kalambo Falls Wildlife Reserve featuring an amazing waterfall cascading down 230 meters into Lake Tanganyika below it;and many more parks that offer unique experiences for visitors while preserving natural habitats for wildlife species native to this region.
